After years of resistance, Netflix has finally provided a report on its most-watched films and television series. The number of hours that Netflix subscribers spent watching the most popular shows in the first half of 2023 is disclosed in the first-ever "What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report." Netflix said in a articulation on Tuesday that it extreme to distribute its "What We Observed" report twice a year.

Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, admitted during a press conference call on Tuesday that the platform's policy of withholding viewership statistics had caused mistrust among the creator community. According to Sanders, it hasn't released viewership numbers to potential rivals thus far.

In its inaugural engagement report, the streaming behemoth lists the most popular content viewed between January and June of 2023. It examines both Netflix's original content and licenced content.

With over 81 crore hours viewed, The Night Agent's first season topped the list in the first half of 2023. The lead character in the American action-thriller series is Gabriel Basso.

Ginny & Georgia's second season aired after The Night Agent's first season. After its global release, Netflix users viewed it more than 66 crore times.

The first season of Wednesday, which starred Jenna Ortega in the title role, came in fourth place with 50 crore (507.7 million) hours viewed, while the South Korean Netflix original The Glory came in third place with 62 crore hours of viewership.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, with 50 crore (503 million) hours viewed, completed the top 5.

According to the streaming service, the list includes more than 18,000 titles in total or 99% of all content viewed on Netflix. These films and TV series add up to 100 billion hours of viewing time. The "demand for older, licenced titles, which generates tremendous value for our members and for rights holders" was acknowledged by Netflix in a press release.
