Navya Naveli Nanda, the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, made her debut at this year’s Paris Fashion Week. Her proud mother, Shweta Bachchan, shared an array of photographs and videos from the event, showcasing Navya’s stunning appearance on the runway in a mini red dress. Navya’s aunt Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also walked the same ramp.

Shweta posted pictures of herself with her mother, Jaya Bachchan, as they sat in the front rows, cheering enthusiastically for Navya as she confidently walked the ramp. Navya walked the runway for cosmetic brand L’Oréal Paris at this prestigious fashion event. Shweta shared a video capturing her daughter’s runway walk, captioning it, “Little miss L’Oréal.”

In another post, Shweta shared a delightful collection of photos from their time in Paris. She revealed that while Navya was busy with her preparations for the show, she and her mother took leisurely walks around Paris. Shweta wrote, “All roads led to Paris this weekend. Well, at least for my mother & me. As Navya spent all her days doing L’Oréal things. My mother and I walked and ate (more eating than roaming to be honest) The show was an experience and so emotional – my mother and I both admitted to holding back tears as our little girl walked on all smiles !!! I remember her first steps she was just a few days past her 1st birthday – like yesterday, all parents say this I’m sure, it’s cheesy, and annoying, but so true. She wore red, the Eiffel Tower turned pink, and we went home very proud, very emotional, and very hungry. I snuck in some M&M’s in my bag, though it’s blasphemous to eat chocolate at a fashion show, we did – because we’re worth it.”

Notably, Navya’s aunt, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was also present at the Paris Fashion Week. Aishwarya dazzled on the runway as the Indian brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, wearing a gold shimmering cape gown and showcasing her newly debuted blonde highlights.

Gandhi Jayanti 2023: Millets to healthy oils, know the benefits of Gandhian diet

What better way to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti 2023 than by exploring the benefits of the Gandhian diet? The Gandhian diet is a vegetarian diet that emphasizes locally produced, organic, and unprocessed foods, such as millet, pulses, fruits, nuts, and vegetables. This type of diet has been around for centuries and continues to be a popular choice for many people today.

Millets are a type of grain that has been a staple in the Indian diet for centuries. They are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibre, making them an ideal choice for those looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Millets are high in protein and low in fat, so they can be used as a substitute for white rice or other grains in many dishes.

Aside from millet, the Gandhian diet also includes other nutritious grains like pulses and legumes. Pulses are high in fibre and protein, making them an important part of any balanced diet. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals, so they can help with overall health and well-being. Legumes are also a great source of fibre and protein and can help to regulate blood sugar levels.

Fruits and vegetables are also an important part of the Gandhian diet. Fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, while vegetables offer a variety of nutrients such as vitamins A and C, potassium, folate, and dietary fibre. When combined with other grains like millet, pulses, and legumes, fruits and vegetables provide a balanced meal that can help boost energy levels and provide essential nutrients for the body.

In addition to grains fruits and vegetables, healthy oils are also important components of the Gandhian diet. Mahatma Gandhi believed that healthy oils like coconut oil, sesame oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, etc., are more important than vanaspati or hydrogenated vegetable oil. Healthy oils provide essential fatty acids that can help with digestion and absorption of nutrients in the body. These oils also contain other beneficial compounds like phytochemicals that can help with overall health.

Mahatma Gandhi was also against starch and refined sugar. According to Slurrp, in 1935, Mahatma Gandhi wrote in Harijan, "Gur is any day superior to refined sugar in food value, and if the villagers cease to make gur as they are already beginning to do, they will be deprived of an important food adjunct for their children."

The Gandhian diet is also against caffeinated drinks. It only highlights the health benefits of honey lemon-infused water and ginger.

Overall, the Gandhian diet is an excellent choice for those looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By consuming grains like millet, pulses, and legumes; fruits and vegetables; and healthy oils like coconut oil or sesame oil; individuals can reap the many benefits that this type of diet offers. Not only is it rich in essential nutrients that can help with overall health but it is also sustainable and cost-effective.

So this Gandhi Jayanti 2023 let’s make it a point to embrace the Gandhian diet as part of our daily routine because it is not only nutritious but also sustainable. By consuming these wholesome foods we not only gain good health but also contribute towards protecting our environment.

A traditional Ukrainian song performed by renowned Ukrainian singer Olena Astasheva, who had fled her homeland because of the conflict, was one of the various artistic forms displayed. After being moved by the performance, the masses joined Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in a spontaneous prayer for peace for the people of Ukraine.

We need to rename the Art of Living to the Art of Living Proof, because you (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) are showing that you can love, you can share, and you can have compassion, Rev Gerald L. Durley said in what can only be characterised as an exciting address.

American venture capitalist Tim Draper said, "We (Americans) used to refer to people from other nations as foreigners. It was also a derogatory word. Under Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's direction, we have managed to bring everyone together, and as a result, no longer is anyone on earth considered an alien. But if an extraterrestrial visited our planet and said, "Take me to your leader," I would recommend Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Fighting

  • Ukraine said its air defence systems shot down 16 of about 30 drones launched by Russia on Sunday. Authorities said civilian infrastructure and grain storage warehouses were damaged in the Cherkasy region as well as the southern Mykolaiv and eastern Dnipropetrovsk regions.
  • Russia’s defence ministry said its forces’ air defences in eastern Ukraine had intercepted five United States-made HIMARS shells, an air-launched JDAM bomb and 37 Ukrainian drones. Kyiv began a counteroffensive in June to retake Ukrainian land occupied by Russia since it launched its full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022.
  • Russia’s defence ministry said it shot down six Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and two Ukrainian missiles over Crimea, which Moscow annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
  • Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said five more ships were on their way to Ukrainian seaports using a new corridor for agricultural exports after Moscow withdrew from the United Nations and Turkey-brokered Black Sea grain deal that allowed safe passage for Ukraine’s grain.
  • UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak backpedalled on a comment by his defence minister that the United Kingdom could send military instructors to Ukraine. Grant Shapps told the Sunday Telegraph that as well as training Ukrainian troops in the UK, he wanted to deploy British instructors to Ukraine. Hours later, Sunak said there were no such plans. “That’s something for the long term, not the here and now. There are no British soldiers that will be sent to fight in the current conflict,” he said.
  • After Shapps’s comments were published, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev who is now deputy chairman of the country’s Security Council, said any UK soldiers training Ukrainian troops in Ukraine would be seen as legitimate targets for Russian forces.
  • The UK’s Ministry of Defence said leaked Russian defence spending documents suggested Moscow was “preparing for multiple further years of fighting in Ukraine. The documents said defence spending for 2024 was likely to account for 30 percent of total public expenditure.

Saudi Arabia condemns Quran burning in Sweden

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Islamic holy book of the Quran in the Swedish city of Malmo

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Islamic holy book of the Quran in the Swedish city of Malmo, a move which the kingdom says was carried out with “the knowledge of the local authorities”.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry on Sunday “reiterated the kingdom’s rejection of such flagrant acts,” and said such a move had inflamed the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Saudi Press Agency.

The ministry called on the Swedish authorities to deal with Quran desecrations in a timely manner and stop giving permission to those who plan to take similar actions. Salwan Momika, an individual of Iraqi origin, tore pages of the Quran and burnt it in Malmo on Saturday.

The Swedish police detained some individuals and turned away some others who tried to stop the move, Swedish media reported.

Over the past months, copies of the Quran have been repeatedly desecrated by anti-Islam individuals or groups in countries including Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, sparking outrage and criticism in Muslim-majority countries worldwide.

Sweden gangs: Army to help police after surge in killings

The army will be officially tasked with assisting the police with gangs next Thursday

The Swedish army is stepping in to support police in tackling a recent surge in gang killings, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has announced.

He said that from next week the army would start providing assistance with analysis and logistics, as well as in handling explosives and forensic work.

Mr Kristersson added that Sweden's laws also needed updating to enable more military involvement.

So far this month, 12 people have been killed in gang violence in the country.

This is the highest number since December 2019, according to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper.

On Wednesday night alone, two young men were shot dead in Stockholm, and a woman - who police say had no links to gang crime - was killed in blast at home some 80km (50 miles) north of the capital.

The 24-year-old woman, named as Soha Saad by local media, was a newly qualified teacher and thought to be a neighbour of the target of the explosion.

HARDtalk with Foreign Minister Tobias Billström: Controversy in Sweden

Mr Kristersson made the announcement after crisis talks on Friday with Sweden's army chief Micael Byden, police chief Anders Thornberg and Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer.

He said the government would ask the army to help the police "in cases where the armed forces' specialist skills can help".

"This could be many things: help with explosives and helicopter logistics, analysis skills... IT forensic analysis."

The prime minister added that the country's current legislation had to change to address "grey-zone situations where it's not obvious what kind of threat Sweden is facing".

Soha Saad, 24, was killed in the early hours of Thursday after a blast tore through her home

Swedish media have connected the recent surge in deaths to a conflict involving a gang known as the Foxtrot network, which has been rocked by infighting and split into two rival factions.

On Thursday, Mr Kristersson said Sweden had not seen anything like it before and that "no other country in Europe" was experiencing this kind of situation.

Children and innocent bystanders, he stressed, were increasingly being caught up in such violence.

Last year, more than 60 people died in shootings in Sweden - the highest on record - and this year is set to be the same or worse.

An official government report published in 2021 stated that four in every million inhabitants were dying in shootings each year in Sweden - compared with 1.6 people per million across Europe.

Police have linked the violence to poor integration of immigrants, a widening gap between rich and poor and drug use.

Mr Kristersson's centre-right minority government, which came to power last year with the support of the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, has not yet been able to stem the violence.

He has vowed to push ahead with more surveillance, harsher penalties for breaking gun laws, stronger deportation powers and stop and search zones - insisting that "everything is on the table".

Some critics have argued these measures fail to address underlying social issues including child poverty and underfunded community services.

According to Forbes, the iOS 17.1 update will fix bugs that are causing iPhone 15 overheating, as well as upgrades that are already being rolled out to third-party apps.

According to Forbes, Apple has recognised consumer concerns over overheating iPhone 15 and 15 Pro phones, but has stated that, contrary to popular belief, it has nothing to do with the phone's mechanical design. According to Forbes, an update to Instagram, version 302, was launched on September 27th, to solve some of the difficulties. Apple also claims that the thermal concerns pose no safety risk, but that other circumstances, such as USB-C power adapters with more-than-20W charging and background processing that happens quickly after a phone is recovered, might cause a phone to become warmer than an iPhone user is accustomed to.

The firm also informed Forbes that the update, which should be included in iOS 17.1, would not result in throttled performance, as some have speculated, including Apple supply chain expert Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple made several significant modifications with the iPhone 15 phones, including the new A17 Pro CPU manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process and the usage of titanium in the frame's construction. The CPU and its powerful six-core GPU are expected to be one of the main selling points of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max because it allows the game to run graphics-intensive games like Resident Evil Village, which is due out later this year, at near-console quality.

According to Bloomberg, an unidentified Apple official particularly mentions Instagram, Uber, and the game Asphalt 9 as applications that may cause the devices to "run warmer than normal."

Pakistan blames India for twin suicide blasts, death toll rises to 65

Sarfaraz Bugti, Pakistan's interior minister, accused India's spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of being involved in the two suicide bombings on Friday. After a bomber exploded explosives near a police car, the incident occurred near a mosque in Balochistan's Mastung area.

In the mosque, people were gathered for a procession to commemorate Prophet Mohammad's birthday. Another bomb occurred hours later in a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least 5 people. As of Sunday, the death toll from the explosions has risen to 65.

In response to the explosions, Bugti stated that RAW was engaged in the suicide assault. "All civil, military, and other institutions will work together to target those responsible for the Mastung suicide attack." "RAW is engaged in the suicide attack," Pakistan's minister was reported as saying by Reuters. Yet, the minister did not give any proof or additional material to back up his assertion.

In a news conference, Bugti also asserted that the Islamic State (IS) had no organised presence in Balochistan in the past. He went on to say that the government will smash the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and any other terror organisation.

Meanwhile, General Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, paid a visit to Quetta on Saturday. "These terrorists and their facilitators, who have no connection to religion or ideology, are proxies of Pakistan's and its people's adversaries," the Army chief said in a statement during his visit to Quetta.
"The whole strength of the state and security forces will continue to confront these forces of evil... "And the armed forces, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies will not stop until the threat of terrorism has been eradicated from the country," he continued.

He went on to say that the general populace has rejected militant ideology and is "totally dedicated to peace, economic advancement, and human development, which is causing a lot of grief to forces of evil in and outside of Pakistan." General Munir also paid a visit to the CMH Quetta to speak with the victims of the attack, according to Pakistani news agency Dawn.

On Saturday, a police complaint was filed to initiate an inquiry, claiming that they submitted DNA from the suicide bomber to be analysed. A horrific suicide bomb attack near the Madina Mosque in Baluchistan's Mastung region killed 60 people and injured more than 60 more.

Another bomb attack in Khyber Pakthunkhwa killed at least five people and injured 12 more when the mosque's roof fell owing to the explosion. None of the two incidents has been claimed by a terror organisation. The Pakistani Taliban, or TTP, has denied involvement for some of the most heinous assaults in Pakistan.
